Why Are Walks Important?
Daily Walks provide an outlet for your companions energy. Dogs build up a certain amount of energy every day that needs to be expended. If it doesn’t happen through walking, it may result in naughty, destructive behavior or separation anxiety. As they say a tired dog is a well-behaved dog :D A good walk can also significantly calm an overly energetic furbaby.
Walking provides both physical and mental stimulation. Exploring their surroundings is an instinctual activity for dogs. Even during a short jaunt your dog is exposed to all sorts of stimuli. They delight in new sights, smells and sounds. It's a mental workout for the brain, as well as the body.
Daily Walks Burn Calories. More than half of the dogs in this country are overweight or obese, according to a study by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (APOP). Over weight dogs are at an increased risk for diabetes, and heart disease.
